UnionsACT today welcomed the tabling of the Secure Local Jobs Code, the key regulation underpinning improvements to the ACT Government’s contracting laws.
The Secure Local Jobs Package includes a range of new measures to protect the workplace rights and safety of employees of ACT Government contractors.
The Package was a key election commitment made by ACT Labor in 2016 to ensure the ACT Government only procures goods and services from contractors with the highest safety and ethical labour standards.
Two Fair Work Ombudsman audits have shown forty percent of businesses in the ACT do not comply with their legal obligations under workplace laws
