Unions in Canberra will protest today to call for Australia’s broken workplace laws to be changed.

Rally Details

Location:         Garema Place, Civic
Time:               12pm – 1pm
Date:                Wed 10 April 2019

Speakers at the rally will include Alex White (UnionsACT Secretary), Nadine Flood (CPSU National Secretary), Jason O’Mara (CFMEU ACT Secretary), Greg McConville (UFU ACT Secretary) and rank-and-file union members.

As part of the national Change the Rules campaign to fix Australia’s workplace laws, working people are protesting today to ensure secure jobs and decent pay for all.

Protest organisers expect around 1000 working people will participate in the protest.

The following quotes are attributable to Alex White, Secretary of UnionsACT:

“Today, workers will be taking action to rally to fix our broken workplace laws.

“Everyone knows that big business has too much power and they’re misusing it to avoid paying taxes, rip-off customers and steal wages from workers.

“Working people want laws the ensure secure jobs and decent wages.

“If the current Liberal government won’t change the rules and fix the system, then we’ll need to change the government at the Election.

“Fixing Australia’s workplace laws will enable workers to ensure we don’t see American-style inequality in our country.”
