Unions are simply a group of workers who come together to organise for the things they all care about, like decent wages, secure jobs, safe workplaces, fair shifts & scheduling, and respect from the employer.

Union issues and interests are simply those of its members: decent work, safe, sustainable neighbourhoods and a fair society for all.

How Unions Work

OUR VALUES

UNIONISM.

INDEPENDENCE.

RESPECT.

What we do.

Save Weekend Penalty Rates

Nobody who works on weekends deserves a pay cut. That’s why we are campaigning to protect weekend penalty rates, for the over 50,000 working people in Canberra who work on Saturdays and Sundays.

Support Public Services

The way a government treats its workers reflects its values and agenda. The Federal Liberal Government has wrecked over 13,000 public service jobs and attacked the wages and conditions of public servants. Our public services matter and that's why we campaign for a government that values public servants and supports public services.

Young Workers Centre

Standing up to exploitation of young workers

Half of all young workers experience wage-theft, exploitation, underpayments, and unsafe working conditions.

The Young Worker Centre is a free service to empower young workers to stand up for their rights and build a better, brighter Canberra.

A BETTER, BRIGHTER CANBERRA

Let's end work exploitation in Canberra.

Migrant workers in Canberra experience severe exploitation. This affects all of us, from the places we shop, to the food we eat.

Equality, justice, dignity.

For all.

We believe that an injustice to one person is an injustice to all people. That’s why union members campaign to support equal marriage, refugee rights, and the rights of minorities.

WHAT UNIONS DO

Collective Bargaining

Union members are workers who come together negotiate to make their workplaces better.

Defending workers' rights

We use our strength in numbers to ensure that the rights of all workers are protected and defended.

Building worker power

We believe that working people should be involved in decisions about their lives at work and the community.

Unions begin with you.
