Timeline for ACT WHS Funding (2003 to 2016)

In 2003, UnionsACT received funding for an Occupational Health and Safety Officer.

The role of the funding is to promote WHS awareness, particularly in private sector workplaces, to provide advice on WHS legislation and issues, and to encourage WHS training by employees and employers.

The funding supported a position that provided highly regarded training for WHS representatives, WHS committee members and to managers.

It has been acquitted as part of normal financial management procedures.

In 2009, the Public Accounts Committee requested the ACT Work Safety Council to review the funding.

The independent review took place in 2011 and recommended that the funding be renewed. The response was tabled by the Government in 2012.

A second review took place in 2015.
