International Cleaners Day

Canberra Cleaners are bearing the brunt of more broken promises from Tony Abbott. On “Red Tape Repeal Day” Tony Abbott’s government axed legislation that ensured Clean Start rates of pay and job security for cleaners in Canberra’s federal buildings.

From July 1, these cleaners stand to lose more than $300 a fortnight – making a mockery of Tony Abbott’s $500 000 salary freeze.

On International Cleaners Day we’ll show this government they can’t get away with picking on some of our lowest paid essential workers.

Join cleaners from across Canberra, their families, communities and supporters at a mass rally at Parliament House. We’ll be awarding the “Golden Toilet Brush” to the politician who’s done the worst by Canberra cleaners. Can you guess who it will be?
