UnionsACT is proudly and fearlessly independent, and we advocate solely in the interests of our affiliates, their members and working people.
Our mission is to create a society and economy that operates in the genuine interests of working people. We campaign for big, important and permanent changes to improve the safety, dignity and health of all working people at work and in the community.
Council is our highest decision-making body. It is made up of representatives from all of the affiliated unions, including organisers, delegates and union members. Councillors represent the views of their unions and industry in the deliberations of UnionsACT’s activities and work together to create a united vision of worker’s rights in the Canberra region.
UnionsACT is managed by a full-time elected Secretary, and supported by honourary elected officials, including a President, two Vice-Presidents and an Assistant Secretary.
Overseeing the governance and strategy of UnionsACT is an Executive, comprising representatives from each affiliated union. The Executive meets regularly to discuss key issues facing union members in the ACT.
